A Healing Prayer

Matt 18:20 “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.”

This has been such a blessed ministry for I.H.S. We get to see many people receive a changed heart through our healing prayer ministry. In Ephesians 1: 17-18a Paul writes to the Ephesian Church, “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Glorious Father, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints and the incomparably great power for us who believe.”.

It’s been my great pleasure to be a part of this ministry. I have been the accountant, bible study teacher, and counselor for women at IHS since the ministry launched in 1995. We started the healing prayer ministry in 2002 and have seen blessing after blessing in people’s lives as they release the lies they believe about themselves and others and replace them with God’s truth.

Jesus said in John 8:32, “Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.”
Jesus says about Satan in John 8:44 “.The Devil is a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies he speaks his native language for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

We believe that Jesus defeated Satan at the cross and all he has on us now is deception.
We believe this is Satan’s greatest weapon against us. If he can get us to believe the lies, like, “I’m not worthy, I’m stupid, it’s all my fault, God doesn’t really love me, etc”, then he can just leave us alone because with these beliefs in our hearts, we will simply self destruct. We will try to cover these feelings up with drugs, alcohol, food, sex or other escapes; or our feelings will come out in other ways, such as anger, bitterness, rage, or even being prideful or judgmental. We can live out our lives being a defeated Christian. We are so thankful for the wisdom of God who knows all things and loves us so much! (See Psalms 139)

It’s not all just about lies. Sometimes we have un-confessed sin we need to deal with, or un-forgiveness. In Matt 18:24-27 Jesus gives a parable about the servant who owes a debt. The king makes an assessment of the debt and decides to forgive the debt. In our Healing Prayer Ministry, sometimes this happens. We need to walk through the debt someone owes us and with God’s truth, we can choose to release that debt. This results in the person who is forgiving the debt to be set free from the anger, bitterness or hurt. We’ve noticed that when people haven’t forgiven themselves for their sins of the past, they give Satan a key that he can turn whenever he wants. Self-forgiveness is very important in a believer’s life. Can you say you have truly forgiven yourself for your past?

Some of the healing in our ministry has to do with losses we have encountered in our lives. This has nothing to do with lies but a real felt hurt that we tend to hang on to. In this healing ministry, the Lord is willing to take our loss and hurt if we are willing to surrender it to Him. We have seen many people who have released their pain to Jesus and are free from the hurt attached to the losses in their lives. 1 Peter 5:6-7 says, “Humble yourself therefore under God’s mighty hand that He may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because He cares for you.”

Pray that God will give us “more and more wisdom and revelation” as we work in this ministry.

Paul says it best in 2 Corinthians 10:4-5, “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of this world. On the contrary, they have divine powers to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the Knowledge of God and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

May God bless you,

Linda Denny
